This is a very cool rune set and the runes are made of wood with a brassrunic symbol inscribed on each one. A velvet drawstring bag is included (to store the runes) as well as a paper instruction sheet. There has been much research about the runes and where they came from and when, but it seems there is no exact agreement on their past. The runes are often associated with the Norse god, Odin. All the runes I offer are based on the Elder Furthark, "an archaic alphabet and a divinatory system" (www.groveandgrotto.com). This is a very simplified explanation, but for our purposes, necessary. There is much controversy abouttheblank rune which comes in almost all modern commercial rune sets. The Elder Futhark consisted of 24 runes (no blank rune). See the website mentioned above for further info about this. To be traditional, you would use just 24 of the 25 runes that come in this set, or you can use all 25. Use your own inner knowing as your guide. You can perform readings for yourself or others or pick one when you want to receive a message for that day or week or month. It's fun to reach into a bag of rune stones to choose your message or do your reading! ♥ Runes are approximately 1½" in diameter and approximately ½" thick.
Fun Fact: Way back in the day, most runes were made of wood, just like this set :)
***Again, be Aware that no, there hasnot been a mistake - you will find ablank runestone in your set ;) This is common in today's rune sets - you willalways findone blank rune in each set, as mentioned above. Also, these sets are made of wood and there may be slight differences between the runes in color or slightly in shape and size.
