Labradorite is a very special and lovely gemstone and is known for its beauty, much of which comes from an iridescent quality it possesses. Unfortunately, the photos will not capture its true color and luminescence (the close up shows some of it). This quality is created by fractures within the stone, that reflect various colors, such as blue, green, red, yellow & orange. The name that has been used for this quality of labradorite is
labradorescence, but because of the difficulty in pronouncing this word (and other descriptors), it has been given a newer name (aren't we lazy? Lol), the
